In a small village up in the north of the Netherlands I started my first saxophone lessons.

I was ten years old at that time and started playing the saxophone by adoration for my father, who (still) is a good amateur saxophonist.

In this music school I had a great teacher. Unfortunately I don’t remember his name, but he really knew how to shape a lesson for the student and make sure that the maximum progress possible was made.

In 2008 my family moved to Meppel.

In this small city I fell in love with jazz.

My uncle that year gave me my first jazz cd, Milestones - The Miles Davis Quintet. This is what I used to fall a sleep on at that time.

In Meppel I met my first and still one of my favourite teachers, Maarten Gal. A award winning allround french horn player. Because of him my knowledge and feeling for this music started to develop.

The time went by and I played in most of the big band in my region. I finished my high school and got accepted at the Prins Claus Conservatory Groningen.

At the PCC I developed in to the musician and person that I am now. This school and the Groninger music scene gave me so many opportunities.

In my study period I had the opportunities of playing with some great New York Jazz musicians under which, Michael Mossman, Tim Armacost, Matt Wilson and many others.

Also playing in varius orchestras as “het Noordpool orkest”, “de stageband”, and “the National Youth Jazz Orchestra”, with which we played at the North Sea Jazz festival in 2016.

At the moment I am playing with a lot of musicians that are from all ages, all generations and in many different styles.

I love what I am doing because of the connection with the people. When working on music I write or play with this as a goal.

Isn’t music a wonderful thing?
